Inauguration Day

It’s Inauguration Day for the 45th President of the United States: Donald Trump. It was a messy election season, and tempers still haven’t calmed down. However, the show must go on, and the country must continue to operate.

After an emotional goodbye from the Obama family, the country now watches President Trump get sworn in. Regardless of how we feel about the last election’s outcome, one thing is clear: our country must unite now more than ever. We are the real change needed in this country. Our three-level system of checks and balances ensures that the presidency is never a dictatorship. We have a huge say in how our country is run, and we can accomplish this by speaking through our elected representation.

Enjoy this historic day for what it is. Take some time to learn about the presidency, and what powers the President actually does have. Even Inauguration Day has some crazy history behind it. For example, did you know that George Washington’s speech was only 135 words when he was sworn in?

We live in a beautiful country with many chances to express ourselves. Not everyone around the world gets that chance. We can be the change we want to see in our nation.
