Fall Is Here

The trees are losing their leaves, and pumpkins are beginning to leave their patches, finding temporary homes with us. Depending on where you live, it is time to pack away those summer clothes and bring out the comfortable sweaters and warm pants! What is your favorite part of fall?

The air is turning crisp and those of us that don’t live on farms are gathering apples and pumpkins from local farms. Friends are gathering around bonfires and getting ready for Halloween. Even though it is getting cooler, this is the perfect time to get outside for walks and other activities. Make sure that you still get together with friends and family on a regular basis. It can be far too tempting to remain indoors once that chill sets in!

Take the grandkids to an orchard or a pumpkin patch. Usually, you can pick your own varieties, enjoy some apple cider, and watch the kids play or ride rides. Our favorite place even has a small area to pet and feed goats! Make sure you don’t just toss the cores and rotting pumpkins. They make great compost for the garden, or you can feed them to your chickens (or offer them to a farmer who has some). Happy Fall!
