A recent survey conducted by Society for Human Resource Management, in partnership with AARP, found that 40% of all employers think that the loss of older workers will adversely impact their business over the course of the next decade.
Nearly 2/3 of organizations with more than 25,000 employees have developed succession plans to deal with the loss of experienced employees.
The survey identified the skills and attributes that give older workers an edge over younger people. At the top of the list is (believe it or not) the ability to write English and know how to spell.
